Tonearm: Reed L series

Reed L 12", Moonlight White edition, CTN wiring

The Reed arm installed in this new solid hard plinth is simply stunning performance. It bested a lot of arms I sold and heard before. It sound big open and solid with great 3d imaging. Bass is powerful.

Just returned from the weekend demonstration of our 12" arm. We had direct comparisons of the Reed 12" arm against a Rockport tangential and Tri-Planar arms. The Reed arm performed admirably.
It was unanimous among the attendees that they all preferred the Reed arm over the Tri-Planar. The Rockport-Reed arm comparison was was less clear but it WAS clear the the Reed arm was very competitive sound wise with the Rockport arm. All in all, it was a big success for the Reed arm. In fact, they asked me to loan the arm for further listening.

Fantastic, I am very very pleased !
Just a short feedback after an initial 3 days listening period. The tonearm is fabulous. I know this is only 'cosmetics' but I am impressed by the finish which is absolutely on a par with the Schroeders, SME, Graham, Wheaton etc.
The sound is equally impressive. Very dynamic, deep controlled bass, a perfect 'rythm mashine'. The soundstage is very good and wide. It handles all kinds of music with great authority. I am convinced it is right up in the same league with the above 'competition'.
The set up was very easy. I used my 'Dr. Feickert' protractor tool. Even without adjustment slots in the headshell (just round holes) the needle hit the two measurement spots on the protractor scale (Baerwald, Loefgren? I don't know) with 100 % accuracy!
On top of all that, dealing with you guys via email was an absolute joy. Very professional people.

Your arm sounds great I try it with several carts (Koetsu-Zyx universe-v d Hul). And now I use it with a Kiseki-Agaat mod. by v d Hul and that sounds very nice. A lot of detail and a big soundstage.

I first installed the Phase Tech 3 G and put on the 'HIFI TEST RECORD' to 'mesure' the tracking-ability of the combination. To my suprise I got no more the 50 microns (without the 'buzzing') and thought that something was wrong. Then (to check) I installed the Phase-Tech on my Triplanar To my even greater suprise the Triplanar got also only 50 microns 'clean'. BTW the compl. of the Phase 3G is 10um/mN. I hope that this is the 'reason'.
I then installed my Ortofon Jubilee on 'your' tonearm and the combination played 80 micron withouth 'protest'.
So the (provisional) result is:'not a bad result in comp. with a tonearm that cost 5000 Euro.
